I had a friend send me a email that had a program named navidad.exe. I opened it and it had some spanish that I did not know. I then closed the program and deleted it. Now, none of the shortcuts on the desktop work, and most of the programs on the computer work. Please let me know if you have any idea of what happened, or know if there is something I can do. Thanks

****! It's a Spanish Christmas Virus! LOL http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif "Feliz Navidad" means Merry Christmas in Spanish! Hope they don't come out with one in Spanish for Easter also. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Ok, now let's get serious.... Have you ran any anti-virus software yet? If it is in the Vrus definition of the AV program you are running, it shoulddetect it and give you the choice to remove it.

Hi,

This is the latest virus on the block so to speak. Unless you have very recently updated your anti-virus software it will not detect it. Follow this link for information from Network Assocaites on how to remove it.

Hope it helps.

It is an I Love You Virus strain. There should be fixes for it already so don't go and reformat or anything. It is a virus though. It is sweeping through systems at my job right now. Hit 2 in my dept yesterday.
Sorry but will find link...

Its a worm. and its CAKE to remove!!
Norton has **** good (and easy to follow) instructions on their webpage.
BAsically, it associates itself in the registry with EXE files. Its actually a pretty clever virus, and kinda funny. I got a copy of it. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
