i bought this us robotic external modem for my job, so we can use pc anywhere to dial in. I keep getting this "error initializing modem". when I go to control panel and do the modem diagnostic and more info. They are communicating. So, I went to call US robotic, all they have for support is a 1 900 # @ $2.50 per minute. what kind of **** is this. We just bought the thing yesterday. Can anyone help (before I return this thing). I am using 98 win. I have tried both serial ports, but to no success. Thanks

hi
ive just had a lot of problems with a diamond supraexpress modem, it was installed okay, came up in device manager showing all was okay, i could dial up an isp but each time it tried to connect it wouldnt. the way i solved it could help you with your problem
go to start-settings-control panel-networking
remove everything that is in there, then reboot,
when pc has rebooted try to make a connection to the internet (or try start-programmes-accessories-internet tools-internet connection wizard this will then load what you have deleted in networking in control panel)
then connect to the internet as normal ,like i said this is how i fixed my problem and it may help you
good luck

When you say "deleted" do you really mean that? Did you delete the files or remove it from device manager? If you didn't uninstall it properly, you have a little work ahead of you to get your modem recognized.
