How about the Turtle Beach Montego II PCI-A3D for $20? Any recommendations/advice welcome. (This is my first DIY computer, made mostly from inherited parts, including a Celeron 466 cpu.)

SoopaStar 11-16-2000, 08:46 AM I would go with the basic Creative Labs sound blaster 16 or awe64 value. pricewatch has them both for under $20. Paul neo_otyugh 11-16-2000, 09:19 AM if you can scroung up $20 more you can get a soundblaster live value and it is a world above a sb16... Ygor 11-16-2000, 10:04 AM I've seen the sb-live value at $30, but didn't check on shipping charges. Try www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com) if you haven't already. shadow 11-16-2000, 10:21 AM Yup, Creative pci16 or Creative Ensoniq pci. Pretty much the same card and both work well. wyvrn 11-17-2000, 08:14 AM Soundblaster Live value is the best value in sound cards right now. The Diamond MX300 is a nice one too. Hey sound cards are cheap, spend the extra 20 bucks and get a current one. jad1097 11-17-2000, 09:00 AM Check out BBA's recommendation in this thread.
