hard drive slownest

i don't know why but during this week my hard drive seem a bit slower even though i defrag it and is still slow. Can someone tell me how to increase hard drive reading speed or tweak the problem. my thought is that i think my HD is dieing

Is it a UDMA drive ? are the cables good ?
no virusscanner on ? first check the cables

yes is a UDMA drive and cable are all good. and yes there is virus scan
