What's the best software to do this with that will also let me tweak up the sound quality of the recording ( remove tape hiss etc)?. Secondly Is it worth getting sound cards with mp3 decoders?

HfdWolfPack 09-15-2000, 07:03 AM I use Adaptec ez cd creator to that "Spin Doctor" works good for me. johnqp 09-16-2000, 09:00 AM The best program that I've used is GoldWave: http://www.goldwave.com It will open just about any audio file you have. It has automatic noise and hiss reduction. You can rip audio files from CD's and edit them and then save it as MP3(or any other format). And lots of other goodies. Very cool product - and its free to try. For MP3 file creation you have to go to a different site and copy a dll file into windows there are instructions and a web link for this - it's only a minor inconvenience but I think the programmer has to do this for copy write reason's? spark25 09-19-2000, 01:20 AM Just like anything else, you get what you pay for. If you are willing to pay some cash try Cool Edit, with the Cleanup plugin (extra $). It's One of the best sound editors out IMHO, the results are fantastic. A must if you like to fool with digital sound to get it right. It's here. (http://www.syntrillium.com/cooledit/) doctj 09-19-2000, 04:30 PM thanks for your responses guys. I tried Goldwave but it didn't seem too user- friendly. Why does it deflash a file? and I couldn't find a way to convert the files back to mp3 as I need to conserve my disk space. If I try cooledit I'll let you know. Cheers johnqp 11-17-2000, 06:42 AM Like I said you have to go to another hyper link that is on the main page of Goldwave and download and install a .dll file to the windows system directory that converts any audio file to MP3. The deflashing is the program loading the sound file to the hard drive for editing. Once the MP3 conversion file is installed, you can save it as an MP3. Sorry if you don't find it user friendly, I guess one persons friendly is anothers unfriendly. [This message has been edited by johnqp (edited 11-17-2000).] SysOpt.com
