Should the source drive and CD-RW drive be on the same channel?
I'm think the CD-rw should be on a seperate channel or doesn't this matter?

You aren't always going to burn from the same source anyways. For instance, will you be doing cd--> cd transfers? or burning from your harddrive? As long as your machine uses DMA for your drives, I think you should be okay with any configuration. Paul shadow 11-16-2000, 07:51 AM The CD-RW should be on it's own channel when possible and if u have another cd-rom, set it up as slave to your HDD. But when burning copies of cd's it's always best to burn images rather than cd to cd. yankinoz 11-16-2000, 01:16 PM I thought putting a CD-ROM as a slave to a HDD slowed down the hard drive. Is this true? Fingers 11-16-2000, 01:37 PM No, unless you are trying to access the HDD and CD-Rom simultaniously. If you're not using your CD-Rom the HDD will perform just as well as if there wasn't even another drive on that channel at all. If you're doing HDD intensive work and playing a audio CD at the same time, you might be able to detect a small change in performance. SysOpt.com
