TechJumper 11-12-2000, 07:59 PM I would strongly suggest waiting until blootooth is fully implimented into computers. The possibilites with that baby in there are virtually endless. Also, I would suggest getting a report from COMDEX, like me, who is still too young to go, but the new product introductions there might give you new ideas. Best of luck, TJ daveleau 11-13-2000, 07:24 AM I think the bluetooth technology is still a good ways off because of the fact that 1900 tech companies are trying to get things running. There are bound to be some standardization problems. There are some things coming... New Processors (64bit processors? 1.4GHz?) RAM is beginning to change (DDR, RDRAM?) 64MB video cards are on the horizon (Geforce 64MB) There are always things looming ont he horizon. If you wait til the new stuff comes out, you will be waiting forever because there is always something new. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif dave SoopaStar 11-14-2000, 08:29 PM I would wait for the DDR memory and AMD 760 chipset to come down in price. I bet those **** things are going to scream S-P-E-E-D! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Paul MadMatt 11-16-2000, 01:05 PM A few nuggets of info I've found at COMDEX: Nvidia is being tight lipped about their next gen chip. The rep would tell me very little. Their Geforce2GO chipset looks to be the first real 3D solution for laptops. I talked to an editor from well known PC mag - he says DDR shows only a 10-15% improvement over SDRAM in the real world. He also said that DDR is pointless for PIII systems - the memory management architecture can't take advantage of it. I'll post more later SysOpt.com
