Has anyone ever tried one of these by NetSetter.com or iGive.com?

Do you think they really work?

I tried one once, and it made a little difference, but that was on a machine that had other problems and wouldn't behave well with the changes.

If you want to accomplish the same thing and know exactly what has been changed, go to RegEdit (http://www.regedit.com) and find the tweaks. Also, download RegEditX, it's a good utility for Registry editing.

Tried one too, messed up my java settings.
Uninstalled it.
Till I can afford DSL I guess I'll stick with my crappy 56k lol

I used the more familure NetSonique I think it was called. the way they work is like your Temporary Internet Files folder. It saves pages and graphics visited so if you ever return your page loads faster from your hard drive. You can set it up to prefetch so many pages deep as well. Pretty dangerous if you set it to high. 30 meg's is the default setting I believe. You can have almost the same results if you have Internet Options set to not empty your Tempoary Internet Files folder on exiting your browser. The graphics will be saved and the next time you go to that site the archived graphics will be brought up to serve the page from your Temporary Internet Files folder. Both will use up hard disk space.

Cheers!
