Can anyone throw some light on my problem - my hard drive passes Seagate diagnostics and scandisk shows no errors but it does not vailidate data. Is the hard drive shot?:(

What do you mean it does not validate data?

I am using a diagnostic Burn-in program and it is writing data to the drive but when it reads the data it is not the same - by the way there is no bad sectors - any help ?

The score is 2 - 1. Why do you assume that the HD manufacturer's diagnostic and ScanDisk are wrong, and that the burn-in program is correct? It may be an older version, incompatible with newer hardware or with your version of Windows.

One major cause of data read/write corruption is overclocking. Another could be from not using an 80-wire data ribbon cable on ATA-66/100/133 drives.
