I have WindowsXP Pro and I had an Audigy XPGamer installed and working (almost) essentially normal except the digital out was not functioning properly i.e. the speaker test would fail to produce sound on more than 1 channel. So, after removing the sound card and all of the Audigy drivers and creative software, I reinstalled my previous card (an SBLive! that worked flawlessly under Win98 and the digital output was correct with my same speaker setup that the Audigy card under WinXP failed with [Altec Lansing ADA885]) and tried the SBLive! WinXP Drivers I downloaded from the Creative website. The driver install program completed normally and requested a reboot. After shutting down and restarting the computer WinXP detected the new hardware and said it was installing the drivers for it. Then it gave an error message that there was a problem and the explanation was "invalid data". Invalid data? I'm doing everything the Creative's web site says to do and what everyone else that has this combo tells me how they simply did. Has anyone seen this "Invalid Data" error before. It makes me think it's the software, but nobody else mentions it.

I'm about to cry.
Can you help or what should I try next? Thank you.

If you think this might be a Windows XP problem, try this XP forum.

Many of the early VIA chipset boards and SB Live! didn't get along too well, and VIA put out some mobo drivers to correct the conflicts. But, I believe this was to correct lockups ect.
