Can get them at typical computer related stores...CompUSA, BEST BUY, etc. The trick will be finding them long enough to reach from the oddly posistioned connection on the KA7 to the back of the case.

I solved the problem by making my own cutouts for USB connections and running them to the front of the case.

thanks for the reply...i found one at egghead. think it would be safe to make the wires longer by soldering extensions on to them? i dont know how sensitive usb is but i think it should work.

I wouldn't see where you would run into a problem with that. Typically, when I add extensions to CDA cables, thermistors, ex., I just splice in CAT5 cable.

OuTpaTienT, is it easy to remove the ports from the slot cover? im assuming you bought the one from belkin as i havent seen any others.

Yeah, I got the Belkin ports. And removing them from the slot cover couldn't be easier. Simply four screws, one of either side of the ports.

I then used the slot cover (with the rectangular cutouts for the USB ports) to trace the two port opening on the front of my case, just using a pencil. Then made sure I could access that area from within. Then just used a good sized (?") drill bit to eat away most of the material within the rectangular cutouts. (tip: drill very slowly with plastic, you don't want it to melt) Then simply used a small file to make the cutout just the right size so a USB connector fits snuggly in there.

Then add the four screw holes just like on the slot cover. Then attach the USB ports directly to the plastic case (exactly as there were attached to the slot cover originally.) Then presto.

I have the two USB ports in the rear for items I leave connect all the time. And now I also have two USB ports right here at the front of my machine for easy swapping of USB peripherals.
