I need help in deciding on what speakers to get.

I am looking for something that produces high quality sound at an average sound volume, but uses up as little deskspace as possible. Both 3 and 5 piece setups will be considered.

I intend to use them with a SB Live! Value soundcard to, play games, listen to MP3's and XGMIDI, and watch DVD movies.

Try an Altec-Lansing ACS45W Speaker system. It's made up of 2 small (but POWERFUL!) desktop speakers, each only about 15-20 cm wide, and a 200w subwoofer that should be placed beneath your desk for maximum bass performance. I've got one of these, and they rock. I can actually feel the footsteps of people in Q2 DM.

How much do you want to spend?

How about these speakers for SOME sound?

I am extremely happy with the cambridge fps2000 speakers.Comes with 4 satellites and a really nice sub for around 130.00.Also has tripods for the rear speakers or you can use the mounting kit to mount them.
These speakers have transformed my pc to a screamer, they make my kenwood shelf system look pathetic. For the price you just cannot beat these guys.
