i recently puchased a vc11 pentium 4 1.5 ghz kit..the kit came with the motherboard installed in the case, the front panel connectors installed, and the 20 pin ps connector installed.after installing the processor, heatsink, memory, and video card(radeon 7000)I had nothing when i turned it onexcept the led on the front panel came on really dim. I thought it was the power supply so they sent me a new tower,mb,and power supply.it was prewired like the first one.hooked it up...same problem.after looking closely at the diagram in the owners manual for the front panel connectors i found that all the connectorswere moved over 1 pin(wired wrong).i fixed that now when i turn on the power the fans come on,keyboard lights come on,then it goes dead no beeps nothing.cotacted the manufacturer and they sent me another tower mb,and ps. this one was wired wrong also..i fixed the wiring on this one before i did anything else, but it does the same as the other two that i now have. could the front panel connections being wired wrong have fried my processor or memory?been working on this thing for a month and im running out of storage space for the towers(still havent recieved pre paid shipping labels yet.....HELP

I have the EXACT same problem with an IDENTICAL kit from TigerDirect.com. Case came w/PSU and mobo installed. I installed the CPU, heatsink/fan, 2 sticks RAM, GeForce2 MX400 (PCI), new Maxtor 40 gig HD, CD-ROM, floppy, attached monitor, mouse and keyboard. System attempted to power same as yours, right down to blinking LED. Rereading the manual was when I realized the factory miswiring. Since then, I've tried everything recommended to no avail - no POST, no beeps. Currently, it's on a table with the mobo out of the case on non-conductive surface, PSU attached, only CPU/heatsink/fan and 1 stick RAM reinstalled, nothing else. No POST, no beeps. Curiously, the fans (and earlier, HD and CD-ROM) will spin up and continue normally if the extra P4 4-pin power cable is NOT attached to the mobo. Attached as it should be, they spin only momentarily and the system dies. Is this symptomatic of something?

I opted not to resupply from TigerDirect and instead ordered an Asus P4B and higher wattage Enermax PSU from NewEgg.com (The Asus was the motherboard I originally wanted anyway, but I was price driven...)
Swapped them in for the VC-11 and Allied PSU, installed RAM, video card and P4 and powered up. POST halted with a beep tone that (unofficially) indicated "damaged or inoperative CPU.) Bought a new P4 1.6 yesterday at a local supplier, installed it last evening and everything worked exactly as it should.
The bottom line is that the my original assembly of the TigerDirect package appears to have fried the CPU and maybe? probably? the motherboard, but not the RAM or video card.
If you've been transplanting the same P4 into the succession of boards you've gotten from TigerDirect, you may want to find a known good board and swap it in, because if it's like mine, it's probably dead.
Good luck. -DC

I also have the same problems. Everything thats been described is exactly the same except different video cards. I just talked to tech support at Tiger tonight and they refuse to believe its the processor. I have 2 of those kits in front of me with one of the P4 processors 1.5. My job is repairing the hardware on computers so I know what I am talking about. I called Intel to check on the warranty on this processor but because it was bought at Tiger, I have to deal with them (Tiger tech support) to get a replacement. Do you know how long it takes to talk to tech support at Tiger? Intel also told me a simple test for the processor. Plug everything in, remove the memory, make sure the system speaker is plugged in correctly, and turn it on. If there are error beeps, then the processor works because it is processing the error. If it doesnt beep, then most likely its the processor. I told this to tiger tech support but they refuse to believe me. This processor is the 2nd one they sent me. The first one fried for some reason. I also called FIC about the motherboard and told them the brass stands that are used to mount the MB were either not all there, or the screws that hold the MB in place were missing. Also the wiring for the power and reset etc were off by one set of pins. I checked this and saw this before I turned it on, but even though it was not on correctly, it will not fry the processor. The only thing that happens is it will not power on. Anyway, as of now, Tiger is willing to replace the MB and case with any P4 Mb and case they have even exchange. I still think its the processor. This weekend is a computer show where I live and they have people there to test hardware. I would test it myself but we have no P4 parts, only P3 and AMD. Long live AMD.
