If I was developing a piece of hardware that had to be at least 1/8 " thin, how could I power it by battery and keep it completely wire free? Do they make batteries that thin? And is there really such a thing as wireless power supply?
Thanks,
TJ

How much power does it need? Solar panal possibly. I have seen Lithium batteries thinner than that also.

Like my ole Roomie said, Lithium.
Check www.alliedelec.com (http://www.alliedelec.com) and www.allelec.com (http://www.allelec.com)
Yeah, the technology exists for wireless power..
The stuff is cutting edge and difficult though..
It seems that it was one of the first ways Einstein or ??? came up with to distribute electricity..
Through BROADCAST.
Radio waves.
Don't know how this can possibly help though.

"...Einstein or ???..."
DrVette, I am deeply disappointed with you.
The "???" you speak of, and should be very aware of, is Nikola Tesla.
Inventions/discoveries of his that he's generally not given credit for include:
The AC electrical system we all use in our homes
The radio
X-rays
vacuum tube amplifier
fluorescent bulb
neon lights
speedometer
automobile ignition system
the basics behind radar
electron microscope
microwave oven
...just to begin the list.
My Tesla page might have a couple dead links, but I think most still lead to good info about the greatest mind to ever grace this planet.

I'm under a lot of stress at work ,, so I'm not up to my best..
Still with back pain and the great and wonderful company I work for said I cannot do my Dr. prescribed medication and continue to work.. TERMINATION , under 1-1/2 years probation at work for admitting taking a prescribed drug, gee thanks
On Tesla, I don't know why I didn't think of the name, well I do know, but that's no excuse..
I just happen to be in possession of a 30" tall Tesla Coil at this time,, BOY IT IS LOUD too.

Years ago, I recall reading that Tesla thought the earth could be a conductor (wireless power?) of electricity. He found the financial backing and used a power station as his source. He generated the power directly into the ground, and if I remember correctly, the article said that as far away as one half mile, light bulbs placed in the soil flickered and went out. Then he burned up the largest generator west of the Mississippi.
Tesla was like Babe Ruth, I think - he always went for the home run. When he was right, he was BIG right, but when he was wrong, he was BIG wrong.

Wow..thanks, Outpatient. That's some of the most fascinating stuff I've read in a while. I'd heard of Tesla, but knew little of him besides the Tesla Coil. Since we're already a good ways off topic, I'd also like to add that while Mark Twain (and his 6th grade education) has always been my favorite author, I'd have never thought he'd associate with poeple of Tesla's caliber, much less be considered a rare, close friend. That's even more food for thought...

Cool.
For anyone else that may not be up to speed on who Tesla is, I'd advise the follow link as a first stop. It's short and skims over a great deal of his accomplishments...or at least a lot of them (there's so many it mind boggling). It's sure to spark your interest in one of the most brilliant minds our species has ever produced.

Please, allow me to clarify what I am looking for.
I am looking specifically for a battery that is as thin as a flash memory card for a digital camera. The batter power it needs needs to be enough to power a standard PDA. Thank you for your suggestions.

As already stated, lithium batteries seem to be the way to go.
