Hello
Man am I having problems.
Windows XP Pro
Audigy Gamer with XP Update
Altec Lansing ADA885 (http://www.altecmm.com/webapp/commerce/command/ExecMacro/Altec/macros/main.d2w/report)
I installed the Audigy card and then installed the CD drivers and then the XP drivers from their web site. My speakers are Altec Lansing ADA885.
Before, on Windows 98, I used the Sound Blaster Live! Gamer and I never changed the settings on it. I would change the sound mode on my speakers (Dolby Digital, quad, stereox2, etc.) Using the S/PDIF, I would put my speakers on Dolby Digital when playing a DVD. You could actually hear a "thunk" when the digital kicked in. With this Audigy there is never a "thunk". When I use both PowerDVD 4 and WinDVD 3 with the S/PDIF turned on in the software the sound is crackle and the picture stutters. On setting 5.1 I get background sound and no voices. Strange!! The 4 speaker option plays fine but that's not what I want. In the Audigy HQ settings when set to 5.1 I can never get sound to come from all my speakers during the speaker test. I don't know what to do from here. I want to use the S/PDIF option. I don't know if this is a software compatibility problem. I'm using the
Audigy XP drivers along with the newer XP software decoders.
Could it be a conflict between the speakers, Audigy, & software decoder all trying to decode? I don't know. To many variables. HELP!!! Pack'nHeat
ps: If you figure this one out you know more then CL, & Altec Lansing. They don't know.
