Hi,
I have an ACPI compliant box and BIOS (enabled), but Windows XP (Pro ver.) didn't install any ACPI support. As a result I'm unable to switch to standby mode. But the surprising part is
that when I upgraded my Win2K (with fully installed ACPI support) to WinXP, it retained
ACPI . However, I don't want to go any upgrade paths and want to install XP clean.

Make sure that any APM features are disabled in the BIOS, including Plug and Play ... then install the operating system.
