Hi,
I don't know if I suddenly got really strange, but I think the level of noise coming from my Pc has actually risen in the last couple weeks and its getting really annoying. So I came up with the question: From where does this noise really comes from?
The HD, the power supply or what? Can you share any tips to lower the noise level?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Actually, it could be from the HDD, PSU, CPU fan, or case fans. Your best bet would be to open the case up and pin point the source of the noise.

Hi, you can do what I did to check where the noise was coming from. Unplug one of your case fans, or maybe even more, and turn on the power to your computer to check, if the noise is lower by a lot, it is the case fans. Switch to silent fans from www.pcpowercooling.com (http://www.pcpowercooling.com) or something of the same nature. I have a couple of those in my case and it actually does run a lot less noisy. If it is the processor fan, you can change that too, but remember that the less powerful fans make less noise and the less powerful fans cool the components less. The same goes for power supplies. Pc Power Cooling puts out silent power supplies, but the power of those are less than say, a 300W silent power supply compared to a regular 300W power Supply. Good luck!!!

Yeah, it's very possibly your fan(s). I installed an intake fan in the front of my case about 3 months ago as I was o'cing a P3. The fan was salvaged from an old PB. When I pass by my den (where the computer resides), it sounds like a wind tunnel! I really didn't notice the noise increase till several weeks after installing this cheapo case fan! Now I'm shopping for something much quieter..., like an airplane motor!
