Just got an Athlon 1ghz and K7S5A motherboard, 40gb WD 7200 HD, with nvidia geforce mx400 64mb vga, creative live sound card and rockwell pci modem. Machine works fine except when I boot from cold. The keyboard (tried 2 others, and a different mouse) will not work, although system will boot fine. Either the Num Lock light will not come on, or all three lights come on together!. The only way to cure it is to pull the plug from the mains, leave for a few seconds then boot. This cures it EVERY time. Any ideas? The Power supply is 300w, athlon and p4 approved (so it says!). I have striiped it back down to basic machine (hd, and Video), but still the same

You can try going into bios and set defaults save and exit or reset the bios via jumper check your manual or flash your bios. If that doesn't help then this could just be a bad board since you shouldn't be having a problem with keyboards rite off the bat.

Make sure that 'Enable USB Keyboard Support" is disabled in the BIOS. Also, disable"Boot up Numder lock" If that doesn't work you may have a faulty mobo (as rangeral said) or the BIOS may need to be re-flashed and a new battery installed as ECS has had problems with BIOS settings because of the CHEAP batteries that came stock with their mobo.
