I've just invested in some Arctic Silver Compound. Slapped some on my CPU and got an instant drop of 6 degrees celsius.

Just been giving my CPU a battering for 5 hours to see if the difference was maintained and YES it is!!

If you have CPU coolong problems get some of this Arctic Silver Compund.....it's great!!!!

Here (http://www.everythingconnected.com/arctic_silver.html) . They upped the price a bit since I got some, but $13.49 shipped is decent.

It's heat transfer compound made with real silver for good conduction.

Hard to get hold of in the states I beleive but in the UK you can get it from www.overclockers.co.uk (http://www.overclockers.co.uk)

Or you can go to www.2cooltek.com (http://www.2cooltek.com) or www.millisec.com (http://www.millisec.com) http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Both are great people to deal with. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I'd deal with Millisec--not that the others are bad, but I've always done REAL well with them. Back when I needed an Alpha PAL6035 and they were impossible to find, Millisec came through for me. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

2cooltek isn't bad....I've delt with Millisec more and have made them my number one choice. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I got my package, and at first I thought, "WTF! That's not a lot of compound for $14!" Then I applied it...

I've heard the silver compound is great at transferring heat for some time.

However, if it ever gets where it's not supposed to be, it also conducts electricity. This is why it's not as popular as you might think.

Good luck and may this never happen to any of you!
