I bought this mainboard and they recommend PC1600 or PC2100 DDR. While shopping for ram, I noticed that there is also PC2400 and PC2700. Does anyone know whether the PC2400 and PC2700 DDR will work with this mainboard? Thanks in advance.

I've seen posts that some PC2400 works but cant remember the brand. I would advise you go with Crucial PC2100 as recommended by ECS from the manual. This mobo can be picky when it comes to memory, and ECS has stated in the manual what you should use. Here's (http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?Mfr%2BProductline=Elite+Group+%28ECS %29%2BMotherboards&model=K7S5A&x=13&y=15) a link to Crucial's K7S5A site.

You make some good points. I've not used DDR ram before, so it is best to be cautious. Found the Crucial website and will give their ram a try. I'd still like to hear if anyone is using the PC2400 or PC2700. Thanks for the response, I appreciate your help.

I'm using pc2100 and its working quite well, you could prolly try 2400 and if it doesnt work send it back in exchange for 2100, better check the warrant before doing this though

Which brand memory are you using? I looked through the mb manual and Crucial is not one of the recommended brands. I see that quite a few folks are using Crucial, but I'm interested in knowing which memory you have. BTW, what do you think of this motherboard?

The manuals info on recommended ram is referring to the chips on the Dimm module itself. Crucial is a retail div. of Micron. So, when buying Crucial memory you are buying Micron chips on a Crucial Dimm. Regardless of the brand you buy check the ram chips match those in the manual. Those chips have been tested by ECS as reliable for this mobo. I only recommended the Crucial since its inexpensive, reliable and o/c's well for this mobo.

Well, I learned something today. I didn't realize that the Manufacturer's name refered to the chip so that is something new for my computer toolbox. Once again, thanks for the help and the information.
