i've just bought a new 30 GB HD and like a few others on the board seem to be in several minds about the partitioning. i want to install ME, 2K and linux. LInux isn't causing the probs i'm just going to give it 8-10Gb space and worry about it once i have windows sorted as windows will not see it anyway.
So the question is can winME and win2K share the same program files (i.e. only one partition for all programs for both os's) or will i need a seperate partition for 2K progs and Me progs. i'm not worried about using NTFS as only a home comp.

Also is there anyway of hiding partitions from windows. I have my old 10G drive and want to make some images of ME and 2K but don't want them visible under normal day to day use. since drive letters are startingt o get to stupid levels.

Cheers

I know W95 & NT4 could share the same partition -- 95 in c:\windows & NT4 in c:\winnt. In fact, they "shared" all other installed progs & folders w/o any problem. The only tiny twist was the Fonts folder for each -- seemed if I changed any fonts in one folder, it would instantly occur in BOTH system's Font folder.

Yes, WinME and Win2K can share programs. I would put WinME on one partition and Win2000 on another partition. Then install your programs to a third partition first with WinME running and then reinstall the program to the same directory running Win2K. That is the way I am doing it anyway.
