This is my first post but I've been reading for some time.Love the site lots of info.
Just finished building my first system, all was good until I got to the part where I had to format my HD. After I partitioned it the system restarted. Now every time I boot up It goes through the POST and reads( verifying DMI Pool Data) and locks up. I can get into setup but I cant an A:
Also, I have a PIII 1.0MHz the system says its only 705MHz.
Plz help.

wot os are u using? if you have 2k or XP try using the boot on them cd's!, thats the only advice i have about that sorry! :(

About your 1Ghz running at 705mhz, its your multiplier and your FSB, have you got a mannual for your motherboard? if so check the jumper setings or go into bios and look at the freqency setings and it set it to 7.5x133!

Hope this helped! :)

What type of hard drive are you using? If it's a Maxtor, EZ BIos might be installed on it. That program screws everything up.

Maybe, not 705, but 750MHz? If yes, then it is understandable.
Your mobo may be simply not supporting FSB speeds more than 100MHz (like i440BX) and is running at 100MHz FSB, leading your CPU at 750MHz (7.5x100MHz) instead of 1.0GHz (7.5x133MHz).
So, wot ur mobo iz? (like Linkin' Park write ;)).

What do you mean under the system? BIOS? Or Windows?
If Windows, than everything is O.K., if BIOS, then vice-versa.

First,

Make sure your floppy is properly connected.

Second,

Go into the BIOS setup and make sure it hasn't been disabled--don't laugh I've done it and am probably not the only one. While you're there disable halting on errors and enable floppy seek on boot.

Now you can see if the fdd is working when it tries to boot.

---Also set your computer to boot from CD and try booting from your Win98 CD and installing that way.

Hope this helps
