My old computer and cable modem was able to run off a 320VA UPS. The monitor added too much and would sound the alarm. I would like to run my pc, monitor, & cable modem. I was told by a friend to buy a 500VA. Looking at my pc stats below will a 500VA be enough? I only need a few minutes in backup power. The one that I have, that is too small, I like because it has backup on one side and four power surge only outlets on the other side. Most of the ones I look at are backup only. So, could you help me find one that can back up these three devices and possibly have four additional surge protecter outlets? I'm looking at APC but they have a million different kinds. I don't really need any of the auto softwere backup ones. I just don't understand the difference. CompUSA has a 500VA for only $49.99 (http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=288428). Good enough for my needs? Please help. Thank you.

ps: This is strange! At CompUSA (http://www.compusa.com/products/products.asp?category_id=82&srch_type=catg2) none of their APC back-ups can be found on the APC (http://www.apcc.com/products/category.cfm?paramcategory=UPS&prod_type=UPS&web_displayed=all) site. hmmm...

500VA should be plenty if you just want time to save and shutdown.

I have a BlackoutBuster and run 4 things plus the phone lines and still have 2 non backup outlets free.

All I can say is I've had mine for at least 2 years and no problems. I don't use the software though. I know it waorks by the warning beep, but never a flicker otherwise.
