Anyone had any bad experiences with Quantex (UK in particular).

My friend recently tried to order a PC off the UK web site. 10 days later he received an order confirmation for a modified (lower spec) plus more cash. He tried to cancel the order (verbally and in writing) but Quantex had already debited has credit card and are now telling him they are going to ship the machine (in the meantime he has ordered elsewhere).

I have told him to ring the credit card company and tell them that his card has been deducted with an amount he didn't authorise and he is not being supplied with the goods he ordered. Therefore they should sort it out.

Anyone else had problems?

This just goes to illustrate why you should only ever pay by credit card when dealing with direct suppliers.

He should also refuse to receive the computer....tell UPS or whoever, to return to sender.

In the US, you can refuse to receive ordered goods, and the sending company must credit your account. Once you sign for it, it is yours. I have no idea about UK laws...and if you have a friendly neighbor who receives it for you, you may be out of luck.

Also,
Tell the credit card company you want to dispute the charges...do it as soon as possible after the purchase, as they will put a hold on paying the vendor until the issue is resolved. They will send you a complaint form in the mail.

Thank Congress for the Credit Card Laws.
