Hi there

I'm a newbie when it comes to the nitty gritty of computers so I need some help. After reading the BIOS page on this site, one page discusses how the 'advanced' options (caching, shadowing, etc) can be turned off so users can't access them. This page then talks of a program which will let you get in but before doing so you have to know what kind of chipset you're using.

So how do I find what chipset I'm using?

Thanks

The easiest way is to read your owners manual if you have one. The next easiest is to pull the cover off your system and look near the processor; threr will be a soldered in IC about 1" X 1" with pins on all four sides. The chip will have the manufacturer (SiS, Intel etc..) and the type printed right on it.

hey ch0p1n
http://www.mntsnow.com/downloads/sandra2000.zip

just got this link elsewhere in our forum

This program correctly read my bios and motherboard info but as Rat said, a visual check...

I got my motherboard and bios info and downloaded my entire manual.

Document and backup....

Will your default bios settings let you boot successfully ? Removing the motherboard battery may not reset your motherboard to defaults, a jumper setting or removal maybe needed.

Did not mean to go on but you do need to be very careful.

most of my problems were self made,

happy trials
