I have heard from people that AOL 6.0, when installed, meses up your internet settings. It also messes with you metwork settings and it is hard to recover them.
Is this true?
Has anyone had any experiences (good or bad) while installing AOL 6.0?
If so then id really like to hear about them because i dont want to install it if it will mess up my settings.
Thanks a lot!

I have a friend that installed ME with AOL 5 and all was fine. Then installed AOL 6, everything went to hell. Errors saying missing dll's, lock ups etc.
The big problem with AOL 5 was that if you had a 2nd ISP account, AOL 5 would disable it in your machine.

I think your friends have some underlying problems with their systems. I have used both 5.0 and 6.0 with multiple ISP's with not a single problem. No BSOD's, no connectivity issues, nothing. I must be doing something different. Who knows.

WinOS2Mac after seening your post earlier today I desided to Install 6.0. My system is very tight, clean, and fast so I figuered, no problem. After the installment I click on AOL and Every other time or so It gets stuck trying to connect with my TCP/IP, I have Cable. So even on my perfect machine Ive got a slight problem with 6.0. I notice It installed a couple of network adaptors. Ill try do something with those. But 6.0 bums me out so far.

Well I got rid of 6.0 tryed to connect with 5.0, same problem, I had to remove the Adapters 6.0 put in and then it was fine. I guess it was in conflict with my Intel Based Ethernet Controller adapter for my Cable. Well other than my connection problem, my system ran fine with 6.0 on Win 98. So there you have it, thats me report on the subject.

W/AOL5 (don't know about 6), at some point it comes up with "Do you want AOL to control your Internet Settings?" or something such. Do NOT choose yes for this.
