Hey guys!! I am building a new t-bird 1ghz system and want to get a kick ***** fan. Actually, I just want to get a pretty good one that is not going to be annoying as hell because of some high pitched squeeling. Is the super orb my answer? I think so... BUT I have purchased an Abit KT7-Raid and I see "Does not fit on KT7 boards" everywhere! I also see signs like "Must use dremel to make it fit". How hard is it going to be to make this thing fit? Also... This is my first system that I am building and I am not exactually sure what to use as a median between the t-bird processor and the cooling fan. I see alot of people saying to use the pad that comes with the processor, I also see people saying to use thermal paste. Well mainly give me some tips on how to mount the processor and everything so I don't burn this thing up!
-=MAIN QUESTIONS=-
What do I need to do to make the super orb fit?
How do I mount the processor, what type of themal paste/pad do I use?
Thanks guys

Well I can't help ya out on that super orb but I want to say not to use that thermal pad! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Use some Arctic silver paste. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
You can get that at www.2cooltek.com (http://www.2cooltek.com) or www.millisec.com (http://www.millisec.com) http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
For mounting your cpu just refer to the manual and it will tell you which way it goes in. It is a ZIF socket(zero insertion force) meaning there will be a little lever you lift up and you just drop in the cpu(not literally). Then you simply lower the lever to lock the cpu in.
Hope this helps. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Note - I am probley not going with the super orb now b/c of really bad reviews to do with the SO fitting the KT7 boards (which I have)

The small area.
I think the differance is the large one squirts out a larger amount, which you dont need.

The large formula is formulated to be a little thinner so it can spread over large surfaces easier. You need the small area formula for a T-Bird, which is a bit thicker so it won't go all over the chip.
Hope this helps.
