What's up every1?I'm building for the first time and have some questions....
1.want to get kt7-raid ,duron800(probably later upgrade to tbird)and want to oclock it
how much power should I get?
2.Does the plexwrite 12/10/32a write in RAW mode?
3.What is the most quit, reliable HD u have used? thinking of a IBM or Maxtor diamond max(i have a quantum fireball no probs but loud high pitch whine drives me nuts!)
4.Does the TVoutput on video cards only show 800*600 picture on a 27in TV?
3.Mushkin,Crucial,or Kingston Ram 4 speed/quality?
Sorry 4 so many questions just trying to narrow choices thx....

1. At least 300watt PSU

2. Dunno

3. My Maxtor Diamondmax is great

4. Dunno

5. Doesn't really matter in my experience. My cheap PC133 RAM works fine at CAS2.

Hiya Scot!

I'd suggest an amd approved 300 watt power supply. If there's any problems, that's one spot eliminated, (usually).
I've had very good experience with Maxtor drives. Many say that IBM (75gxp)is tops for a few $$ more.
I think the 800X600 tv output is standard no matter what size tv you have. Everything is subject to change, so there may be other options now.
Some recommend name-brand ram highly for peace of mind. I saw a few years ago where Corsair came out on top in heavy overclocking tests. My generic does just fine, but since I have a P2-350, I don't overclock much. In any case, get 133, just to have some room to use. CAS2 is best, but you may not see any difference using CAS3 unless you overclock to the max.
There is ram that's amd-approved. Some have posted that their non-approved ram was a problem, others have used generic with no problems.
Actually, only about a half-dozen companies make ram. What they don't market themselves is sold to others that put the chips on their cards and sell it.
