I have been running my PC with the option AGP FastWrites enabled up to now, and this with no problems, until yesterday, when I played FIFA 2001 and I had numerous crashes. In the beginning I thought that this was due to the graphics drivers of my Hercules GeForce MX, but the problem was still there, even after I tried both the latest Detonator AND the Hercules drivers.
I then thought that this is an Windows ME problem, but the game crashed even when I ran it on my Win98se platform.
I then turned off the BIOS option of AGP Fastwrites option, and the game no longer crashes (at least up to now), so I think this was the problem... I must say that disabling the option made the game run in a little...less beautiful way, but didn't crash.
My problem is the following: I tried to find info on AGP FastWrites, but all I got is some very technical stuff I don't understand very well.
I was wondering if there's someone willing to help me understand what this option is about, and why does it make that my game crashes (by the way I remember reading some posts talking about 'troubles' with AGP FastWrites enabled).
I don't need too much info, and not too technical. Just plain English so that I can understand if it is better if the option is enabled or not.
I have a Hercules GeForce MX, an ASUS P3V4X mobo, and an Intel 800 with 256 RAM.
Thanks a lot for your help! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
