Does anyone use a Via C3 CPU? Used one in the past? Like it, hate it? Pertanant knowledge and input would be greatly apprciated. Going to build a "silent" PC.

No do not, I repeat do not get it. It might look attractive but it's a very weak CPU unless your going really cheap. While it is far better then the previous Cyrix CPU's it still can't compare to Durons/Celerons/T-birds/XP/p4 line of CPU's.

a C3 900mhz is prob. as good as a p3 650mhz and that's not with the copermine core.

VIA C3 is the most power efficient CPU between the Intel-compatible systems. With such CPU you can make a system without any fan !!! And it will take nearly 40W (without a monitor) with a useful speeds.
I plan to make such qiuet PC for work, because the speed of an C3 900MHz is more than enough for all office (and 3D-games too, believe me!) applications.
I like VIA C3.

Sorry didn't see the Silent part, yeah that's a great CPU for work then. Peace and Quiet. Prob. the best CPU for it.
