hello, i am going to be upgrading to a new 3d card, and i need help getting the right one. my current system is a p3 700, with 256mg of ram, 23 gigs of hd space, and a voodoo3 3000 agp card. i have saved up $250, and i have 3 choices of what to buy: a geforce3 ti 200 64mb, a geforce2 mx400 64mb, or an ATI radeon 7500 64mb. i have done some bench marks with my computer, and here are the results... (note: all tests were done with the highest graphics settings possible)

Go for the G3Ti200...

ok, simple answer, that’s fine. but what i was wondering is by how much will this increase my pc's speed? if it just gives me10 more fps on q3 at 600x800, then to h*** with it, ill just save my money. but on the other hand, if it produces a great improvement, then ill get it.

Trust me, going from a Voodoo3 3000 to a GF3 Ti200 is a major upgrade, and you will see MAJOR improvement.

I went from a GF2 GTS to GF3 Ti200 and the difference was already worth it, so for you the upgrade would be enormous.

The GF3 Ti200 will more than double your 3dmark scores. As for game fps, it will vary on your video settings. But these will still be considerably better than the voodoo3.

Go to price watch. For that amount of $ you can get a radeon 8500.geforce3 t 200 not as fast.

That p3 700 will prob. limit it a bit from it's absolut true potental as you would need a 1Ghz+ machine. Never the less it will work wonders compared to that old V3.

If you just want to maximize the system you have, go with a KyroII(4500). If you're going to upgrade(CPU, mobo, etc.), go with a gef3ti200.

ya, i think the geforce 3 would be the best. i am pretty sure that our Pentium 3 700 is all our motherboard will handle, but im looking into getting celeron that i can overclock past 700. but im not sure if it will work, my motherboard will most likely not be able to keep up with anything faster. i own an Abit be6 motherboard, and anything over 800mhz is all it will take.

Sorry to get to this post so late but you will be best of going for a gf3ti200. I upgraded to one from a ge-force 2 mx400 32meg and what a difference. You can order it for like 159.00 came to 168.00 total.

Also if you are interested in upgarding the cpu to a celeron for overclocking....look into a 700/800 celeron with 100 bus. Upping the bus to 133 will roughly give you 1.1 or so. This will perform just as well as a pIII if it can handle it. A good heatsink and fan will be needed but thats is nothing big.

You could probably get both for your 250

hey american_psycho :)

i own an abit be6 too, got a pentium iii 850 in it, and i can overclock up to 950 mhz with its default hsf with no problems at all, u can reach 1 ghz if u use third party hsf.

and go with the geforce 3ti 200, half the price, but about 80-90% the performance of the gf3. and dont worry much about the cpu speed, games that support hardware t&l (max payne, black &white), wont benefit much form the cpu. check this link fore more details... http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/01q4/011218/geforce-ti-25.html
