help you guys. damsel in distress. I need to buy a new mobo with the following spec:

MATX Form Factor
AGP 2.0 graphics for my Geforce 3 TI500 Xmas present
To carry my 1000mhz AMD Athlon processor.

Dont want to pay more than £90.00

I have sourced a couple but can you tell me the difference between Slot A and Socket A.

Thanks guys.

Love, Aleja

To steer you in the right direction:
You will need to know if your Athlon 1gig is Slot A or Socket A. So, take a look at the one in your box so you can match it up.
The Slot type fits into a slot like the video card you got for Xmas, but longer.

The socket A is square and uses a pin array to plug into the socket on the motherboard. Pic (http://www.sysopt.com/reviews/duron/index6.html)
Next , you will need to know if its a 200 or 266 mhz chip. I would look for a motherboard which is pc266 compatible in case you later wish to upgrade the cpu. These boards are backwards compatible. You'll need to get the markings off the cpu to confirm the chip you have.
And last but not least , your Ram type is very important. Your probably going to reuse this also. Is it PC100,PC133, or DDR? And How many sticks you got? Cant put 4 sticks in a 3 slot mobo.;)

Hope this helps ya get started. :p
