Last week we had a post
going on about making sysopt a
better site. When I saw a post
last night by BBA it made me think
of how nice it would be if
more people would to do the same.
www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/000956.html (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/000956.html)
What I mean is how many times
do you get questions about
what is the proper way to install
a new hard drive. Either
by itself our with the old drive.
Speed of ram?
What type of ram?
Speed of modem?
Size of swap file?
What to look for in a hard drive?
What to do in the case of HD crash?
How to use the regedit?
Different versions of windows se/s2/oem?
Well you get the idea.
We could have a contest each month.
We could vote on the best answer and the
winners article would be put in a archive.
And when someone would make a post just
tell them to go there and come back when done.
What do other members think
about this idea. comments....
Question is Scott going to do
anything about
are suggestions about making
Sysopt better???
Well I was just trying to help.

Yes, I defintely plan to study all of the suggestions that were made and implement them accordingly. However, as I indicated in a post a couple of weeks ago, the site is going through a MAJOR behind the scenes change right now, the details of which won't be made public for a few weeks.

Unfortunately, although it doesn't look like I'm doing anything, I assure you that the 12 hour days I'm putting in aren't just so I can sit around doing nothing. SysOpt.com and ResellerRatings.com is a FULL TIME endeavor for me now, and I have been working full time on the behind the scenes matter for months now. Unfortunately, that means I haven't been able to keep the site as fresh as I would have liked, or to implement new ideas as quickly either.

But over the long term, approximately 3-12 months from now, you'll begin to see some revolutionary changes around here. Typically, SysOpt has been known as one of the oldest hardware sites, but also for being somewhat stale. Even after the redesign and grand reopening, it hasn't been as fresh as some of the other hardware sites, admittedly. However, with the "big change" that's coming up, it will be. NONE of the other sites have anywhere NEAR the support that SysOpt is about to receive, I assure you. Thus, with that support, the site's value to you as far as what we can offer, will skyrocket.

Anyway, that's about all I can say for now. Please know that I appreciate all the suggestions, and I thank Socalgal for starting the threads. Your ideas will be implemented as soon as possible, as will many other concepts that we've thought of.

Thanks Scott
I didn't mean to suggest that you
were not on top of it. I just
thought I would ask. As you can
tell from my post in the question
about how to make Sysopt better
I think this place is the best.
I just wanted to get others to
comment on the archive idea and
if they thought it sounded stupid.
In no way did I mean you should do
it now or at any time.
Are you the only person that keeps
this site going.?
Thanks again http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

No, Scott's not the only one, though HE IS THE MAN. =)

There are several of us that help Scott out: Drew does news, Phil and Sott (real name is Scott Mahaney, but we like the way his 3 year-old nephew pronounces his name http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif) occasionally write/review something, and I make a general nuisance of myself whenever possible. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
