You can't acutally upgrade from PC133 to PC2100 and use the same motherboard, unless of course you have one the few motherboards that support both PC133 and PC2100, such as the ECS P6S5AT. If say you have a Tbird or Duron based motherboard with PC133 and you want to upgrade to DDR PC2100 memory, you will need to swap out the motherboard for one that supports DDR memory. You would still use the same CPU. wallie_x 12-28-2001, 03:50 PM If you have an ECS mobo as per above, you will notice a difference in those applications that are memory intensive. However, either way you must have a sufficient amount of memory. It would probably do little if you went, for example, from 256mg of PC133 down to 128mg DDR. In game playing and in benchmarks is where you might see measurable differences in perfromance. Kurylo 12-28-2001, 05:51 PM The tests will show the great memory speed increase, but at practice, it gains only 3-5% more. NDD 12-29-2001, 10:43 AM If you're asking for a new comp, DDR should be your choice. SDR is almost "out" :) Even if you won't notice any performance increase in the biginning - believe me, it works better. Best Regards ... AndreRIO 12-29-2001, 09:03 PM Thanks ND. I just ordered a new DDR mobo! Wilan Wong 12-30-2001, 04:11 AM Heard SDRAM doesn't work very well wif the P4.. best bet is to get DDR.. which you are already which is good! NDD 01-02-2002, 08:32 PM Allright, AndreRIO, be sure to tell us about it ! R SysOpt.com
