hi everyone..

i want to set up a wireless lan

i have 3 computers that i want to run on my sngle dsl connection.. what should i purchase?

i called this company where i was going to make my purchase and ask for help on what i would need to buy but the salesman didnt seem to know what he was doing

is this all i need?

wireless router
3 wireless adapters? or do i need 4?

are these the only things i need?

Basically yes. Some wireless cards (PCMCIA versions) will need the PCI (or ISA) adapters to allow them to be put in a desktop case. Some of these may require ISA adapters if your computer has any ISA slots at all.


You may benefit from buying a wireless router that also has LAN ports too. At least Linksys makes one that has both wireless and wired LAN connections.


As far as needing 3 or 4 wireless cards...depends on the wireless router/bridge. The Orinoco units I'm familiar with need a wireless card purchased separately...I think the Linksys one I mention has it built in.


Another point of consideration...some wireless cards allow the connection of a separate external antenna and others do not.
