Hi.
I have a couple more questions to ask (and hopefully get answers :D):
1. If I were to get a MS Wireless Optical mouse, is there any delay to it, by this I mean in games and wot not. Generally I use my system for work, however sometimes I play a games (LAN Parties) and don't want this compromised although I want to control DVD software from a distance.
2. I have a Artec 8x DVD drive and am using this as my CD. Is there any down side to this, should I be putting a CD into my system as well? It refuses to spin up unless I click on it (Then retry many times.) I guess this is a feature of Autoplay, does anyone have any ideas?
3. Out of said DVD drive are two connections - Digital out, and analogue. I have a SB Live!5.1 which supports both. How do I configure which output to use. At the moment I have both cables plugged in to my DVD, but want to swop one to my CDR so that I can listen to music and browse a CD - the drives are on their own IDE channels if that helps.

Many thanks.

Stefan

ill have a crack :

1. wouldnt imagine any problem with mouse .... i havent used the one you speak of ...i have a logitech cordless and its perfect....

2. no downside to using dvd drive as cd rom as well .....not sure about the autoplay function is it checked on the device ? does it happen with every cd i know some of mine dont autoplay either even though they are supposed to to....

3. i too have 5.1 soundblaster .... i have 2 connectors at back of dvd drive digital one is connected to my soundblaster card and the other to my dvd decoder card..... do u have 5 speaker set up is it working ??? if so leave it alone.... if u have another cd drive then u can also connect that to the soundblaster card and you will play cd's on that and browse on another...... it took me ages to set up my s/blaster as well but both drives can be connected to to the card ...read the manual ...then read it again and again and again..........

hope this helps

The only problem I have heard about is that the Win98 startup disk will not recognize a DVD drive as a CDROM automatically. You will need to customize your startup diskette.

Thanks.
I don't have the 5 speakers working - at the moment I am using an old amp and a stereo.

In the same vain then is a DVD decoder card better than software DVD player? I have a 1.4Gig Tbird, 512 Ram so running software isn't a prob but I was looking into PowerDVD 4 (?) with the audio packs, it comes to £55 - is it better to buy hardware?

I have read the manual - I learnt that trick some time back :D

Cheers.
