I need to add an extra tower that can hold several SCSI Peripherals I have. Three drives, tape, two CD-R drives and a DVD-RAM drive . Is there such a thing that can handle all those different devices and link up to my system. I have onboard dual-channel ultra SCSI-2 connectors.

Thankx

Go to your local PC junk shop and pick up an old PC tower. - Buy a new 300 power supply for it, buy two case fans which can connect to the power supply leads in-line and don't depend on a motherboard connection. and then buy a new SCSI ribbon cable that is very very long.....

Many SCSI cards have an external port for scanners and such - just connect to that after you make sure that you haven't duplicated any SCSI id's along the chain.

Also time to hunt down that SCSI card documentation and check on termination jumper settings.

and then you have your SCSI periperal external stack....... enjoy.....

edit - forgot to warn you about one thing -

don't forget to shut off the power to the second tower - .... I recommend that you get a power supply for the host PC that has an "out" which is switched at the PC switch. - connect the new stack's power cord through that power supply so that when you switch off / reboot the PC - it also impacts the SCSI stack.....

Axel, that's a good Idea but you forgot 1 thing, along with the external cable to go from the SCSI card, on the host computer, to the external SCSI case, you will then need an adapter to go from the external SCSI cable to the internal ribbon cable of either 50 or 68 pins, sometimes these adapters can be hard to find (there are also different types of external cables, it depends on the external connector of your SCSI adapter), but there is a company called Dalco Electronics that carries them. http://www.dalco.com/ or this same company carries external SCSI cases that include everything you need except the external cable for as many as 8 components, (but they ain't cheap) http://www.dalco.com/dalroot/showprod.cfm?&DID=7&User_ID=64014&st=1607&st2=39188923&st3=-69386351&CATID=20&ObjectGroup_ID=137 Dalco also carries the external cables

and remember that the PS in the stack
have to be AT since otherwise ya cant turn the PS on
ATX must be connected to mobo
