When trying to open .jpg files in Windows Explorer, I get the following error msg: "C:\My.bmp was not found". My file association is set to view these as jpeg's in MSPaint. All file extensions are correct. I need the ability to edit these files and do not want to open them with Internet Explorer. If I first open Paint they do open without problems, but need to be able to access them from WinExplorer as well. These all worked without problems before and suddenly quit working. Any good ideas you have are appreciated.

try holding shift, right-clicking. Then Open With. Find Paint and this will re-set you file attibutes and everything.

Yeah, been there, done that:(
Have also uninstalled Paint and reinstalled it.
I did finally just DL another image editing program which seems to be working but would like input on any fix that someone has.

have you had a file called c:\my.bmp?
Try searching through your registry (start, run, regedit) for "my.bmp". It might be that the MS Paint is trying to load up said pic.
Try making a simple pic saving it as my.bmp on the root of your HDD - seewhat happens.

Thx, I ended up doing both of your suggestions and this time it did associate the file with Paint and opened it. Who knows....
