I am running Windows 98 SE and I am wondering the reason why when I press ctrl-alt-del "systray" is not loaded. I was under the impression that both explorer and systray should load when Windows is loaded.
The computer appears to be working fine. Systray.exe is on the disk under windows\system directory.

The computer has got the latest anti-virus software installed as I thought maybe a virus could cause this.

Any ideas why this is not loading? Could it cause problems?

Systray is the little box in the right where the clock is (and/ or any other apps). Do u have that box in the bottom right part of the screen?

If u do, then there is no problem that u should worry about.

If u dont, then u can Start > Run > msconfig.exe and in the startup tab make sure that systray.exe is checked.

Although i am running Win 2k (i still have systray) but it too does not appear in neither "currently running apps" nor as "currently running processes" so i think there shouldnt be any problems, or viruses ;)
