What do you all think of the possibility of organic-based computing? I know that a biologically grown substance is already being experimented with for use on a new type of monitor. If we continue into the digital age only to have to resort to nature to further our technological efforts where do we draw the line between organism and machine? Another issue as controversial as abortion? - when can you decide that it is really "alive"?

If we end up using bilogical based computers they will stil need to be powered. I don't expect a self powere computer will be that easy to make though it might be quite cool http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif . so the alive/ not alive question could be based on if it need to be plugged into the wall.

Might have to be careful with an organic based computer.... if the thing died prematurely, we could get arrested for computer abuse or murder......
