I am installing a Logitech Wingman Force 3D joystick on a Windows 98 system and the installer loads and I get the first page of the wizard screen but when I press "next" nothing happens.
I have tried disabling all the other programs at startup and ran a thorough scandisk and a defrag on the drive but this did not help.
I am wondering if you have to have the joystick plugged in to install the software however the instructions tell you to install the software first.
I have also downloaded the latest windows installer and Wingman software from the web but the same thing happens.

Any Ideas.

Do you have the latest drivers for your games port / sound card??
Try these first!

If the Wingman is a USB controller, install the drivers without the controller plugged in. The driver will tell you when to plug the controller in, usually after the first reboot.

Once all is installed correctly, you might need a program called "joystart", it keeps all of your settings (usb) after shutdown.
I use the Saitek usb Cyborg and have found that win 98 does not keep the config file for usb joys correctly.

I have a Logitech Wingman Extreme (USB), Saitek Cyborg 3D USB, and SanDisk Card Reader USB, and don't have any problems with them in Win98SE. And haven't had to reconfigure the controllers.
