My young son got a Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator, WWII Europe Series, for Christmas. The simulator was installed without a hitch and seems to run well.

I also installed a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick. The problem is that this joystick seems *terribly* unresponsive as I move it forward and rearward for diving/climbing maneuvers. There seems to be a long time lag before the aircraft will sloooowly pitch the nose up or down. I realize that we're simulating old aircraft, but even the old ones could dive and climb -- couldn't they?

Everything else seems to work fine. Pivoting the stick for rudder movement and side to side movement for banking is almost instantaneous. Hitting the buttons to fire weapons and look around is also instantaneous. Similary, any keystroke, to retract flaps for example, happens right now.

Any ideas? Any suggestions on how to perk up the joystick reponse would be appreciated. I thank you in advance.

try configuring ur joystick axes in the control panel.

I was having a very similar problem, but when I upgraded my Video card (I got a GeForce 2 MX400), it stopped.

Now, it plays fine for hours, then inexplicably starts "skipping" every few frames. Gameplay isn't interrupted, it just rhythmically skips.

The joystick is extremely responsive, though.

Check the in-game control settings. There sometimes are different sensitivity settings for x and y axis for joysticks/game controllers. Good luck.

try looking for an updated driver for your soundcard/game port, this may help

:D I followed the tips you folks suggested and it works beautifully -- very responsive.

Next question: What is the easiest way to revert back to the old unresponsive settings so *I* can have more time on this thing? Just kidding! ;)

Thanks again.
