Scanner Headaches

Just got my wife that scanner for X-mas she wanted...

Now if there was some way to install the dumb thing...

The scanner: Mustek 1200 UB

The computer: Win XP (on AMD with lots of ram)

The problem: Out dated drivers

Tried getting the new drivers (over 3 hours, thier sites download is a snail). Used the new drivers. Locked the system up. Managed to get the system back up, but now I can't uninstall the scanner (needed for boot?) and the system won't finish a reinstall of the drivers.

Any help will be appriciated. I need this for the wife (I've been a bad boy...)

I've got a Packard Bell Diamond 1200 which apparently is a Mustek Bearpaw 1200 in disguise. The drivers are fine, have you checked out this page (http://www.mustek-europe.com/html/faq/faq_english_XP.html) on their site?

Thanx for the link. The Mustek USA (Global) site is a bust, but the Europe site you linked to rocks. The "winTool" seemed to have done the trick, at least until you try to use the scanner...

At least the drivers are loading and unloading properly now, so I think I'm over the hump. Will check back with an answer tonight before we leave tommarrow.

PS: She thinks that you guys are the best, helping out on the holiday and all.
