I have installed the latest driver for my V3 and this has happened to the settings for the card and monitor etc... Double menu tabs!!! only one set of tabs work though!
<IMG SRC="http://www.overclockit.ic24.net/settings.jpg" border=0>
How do i get rid of the tabs? i have tried re-installing the v3 drivers and even installing another vid card but nothing works, still got double tabs when i put the v3 back in. Any ideas how to remove them??

Thanx - RobUK

Whoa! now that's something I haven't seen before! hmmmm, when you say you have tried reinstalling the drivers, does that mean that you have completely removed all of the voodoo references in your system? including the registry? and then tried a new install.?
this might be a little long but here goes.
=v=\ VooDoo3 /=v=
Installation Instructions & Tips:

Before you Begin:

Make sure "ALL" connections are secure, and that your V3 card
is seated properly. Don't force the card, it should slide in easily.

Installing:

1. Make sure you UN-install "ANY" and all Prior Video Card
Drivers & Software. This includes OverClocking programs
and references. This must be done. If you don't know how to
do this, consult the video card makers web site. Also, if you have
an on-board video card on the motherboard, disable it.

2. Change your video mode to 640x480 with the "Standard VGA Driver"
with only 16 Colors.
You can do this via the Desktop Properties/Settings/Advanced/Adapter.
Make sure your Refresh Rate is set properly to your Monitors
specifications.

3. Re-Boot, and go into your systems BIOS. Make sure the following is
"NOT" being used:

1a. Video BIOS "SHADOW" or "CACHE"
2a. VGA Palette Snoop or DAC Snoop
3a. Hidden Refresh.
4a. Byte Merge.

4. Check your system BIOS for IRQ/MEMORY conflicts. If any,
fix them.

5. The V3 "REQUIRES" an assigned IRQ to it. Make sure it is not
in conflict with another IRQ. IRQ SHARING is acceptable.

6. If your system is OverClocked, set it to it's default for installation
purposes. You can change it later to see if it affects the V3.

7. Now is a good time to re-check your settings.

8. Boot-Up and go into "SAFE MODE". Make sure there is not any
problems, and that all the prior video card(s) Drivers/Software have
been properly deleted. Check for conflicts in IRQ/MEMORY.

9. If you cannot boot up, take out "ALL" cards accept the V3. Re-Boot.

10. You should be able to boot up. If you can't at this point, there is a
conflict in your system. You need to find it, and fix it "BEFORE" you
try to install the V3 card.

11. Once your at the Desktop, put your V3 CD in, and run the Software.
Follow it's instructions to the letter.

12. Re-Boot, and confirm V3 installation. Also, there are other programs
on the CD you may want to install, additional Drivers & a Tweak
Utility. Follow their instructions.

13. If you installed the VooDoo Tweak Utility, confirm this by checking:
Desktop Properties/Settings/Advanced.

14. Go to: http://www.3dfx.com and "Download/Install" any Updated
Drivers for your card. This is "VERY" important for the latest fixes
or updates for the V3 card. Visit the site often for the latest news &
Drivers.

15. If you Downloaded/Installed an updated Driver/Software from 3dfx.com,
make sure it is installed and running properly. You can check the
Version
numbers via the Desktop Properties/Settings/Advanced VooDoo Tweak
Tabs.

16. Run your favorite GLIDE programs, and check for discrepancies. Do this
also for D3D/OpenGL/miniGL programs you might have. If you find a
problem, read up on the VooDoo Tweak program. Some settings might not
work correctly in your game/sim. Go with the defaults, and then play
with
the settings. If one setting does not work in your particular
game/sim, write
it down for future reference. Some settings work for some games/sims,
others
will not. That's the cool Tweak programs function.

17. VooDoo3 FAQ??? Where???
Go here for FAQ: (subject to change, check 3dfx.com for details) http://www.3dfx.com/view_io.asp?ID=102

18. Drivers????
Go here for Drivers: (subject to change, check 3dfx.com for details) http://www.3dfx.com/view.asp?PAGE=nusdrivers

19. LX Chip sets: if you have a Motherboard with an LX Chip set, it has a
compatibility problem. The LX Chipset "DOES-NOT" supply the
required proper "Voltage" to the AGP slot. This affects most video
cards
that use the AGP slot. This effects the older LX chip sets reported
from
ABIT & ASUS. There is a fix, but I suggest you upgrade to a
motherboard that has a "BX" chipset. They are pretty cheap these
days.

20. Re-Check "EVERYTHING". If you have a problem, it could be system
related and in most cases is. If your still Overclocked, you should
have
followed the instructions above. (Computer Overclocked that is)
If your up and running, and see no problems, re-OverClock your
computer,
and check for stability. Works great on my Abit BX6-r2 Overclocked
to 450MHz!

OVERCLOCKING YOUR VooDoo3: (2000&3000)

I do not trust any OverClocking Utilities. That's my way, however, you
might want to check some out if your not into the REGISTRY EDITOR.
I prefer the latter, so that I have total control over my system, and that I
know "EXACTLY" where/what changes are made. Plus, it is good to
know where & how the changes take place regarding this issue.

1. Hit START/RUN and input: regedit

2. Click on: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Scroll down to
the "System" folder and click it. This will open the
"CurrentControlSet"
directory. Click on the "Services" then the "Class" folder. Then scroll
way down to the "Display" folder and click on it to open it up.

3. You will see 00X folders. Find the 3dfx Voodoo3 folder, and leave the
others alone.

4. Once you click the 3dfx Voodoo3 folder, you should see 5 more folders.
Open the "DEFAULT" folder.

5. Now, for the change: Right Click your Mouse Key, and use:
NEW STRING VALUE. Name it: Grxclock

6. Double "LEFT" click the Grxclock on the right hand of the screen &
input a value for the Overclock: 160, 166, 178, 183 etc. Depends on your
card.

7. Don't get drastic here folks. Up the overclock little by little, and
check
for stability in your games/sims. When your satisfied with your
setting, close
the registry and re-boot so the setting will take effect.

8. Confirm your V3 OverClock via the Desktop Properties/Settings/Advanced
Voodoo3 Tweak Tab "Info" program. Both CHIP/MEMORY "MHz"
should be equal.

9. Check for STABILITY in your favorite games/sims. If they work great, try
a higher setting. If they don't work right, set it back a little and
retest until you
find the "Sweet-Spot".

10. Turn Off that V-Sync:
By turning off the V-Sync, your Frame Rates will increase. Add this
line to
your AUTOEXEC.BAT: SET FX_GLIDE_SWAPINTERVAL=0

11. D3D V-Sync: (Registry Entry)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Class\
Display\00X\D3D : SSTH3_SWAPINTERVAL = 0

D3D games/sims will no longer be synched to your monitors Refresh
Rate and
the Frame Rates will increase also.

12. Enjoy your card!

Most problems with the V3 can be traced to an improperly running system,
overheating, and bad uninstallation of prior video card drivers & software.
All
video cards produce heat, but if the system is overheated in the first
place,
problems can and do occur. We suggest using a "FAN" on the V3. Depending
on how you mount it, can void the warranty. Bending in the heat sink fins
and
installing a screwed in FAN will void the warranty, but it is the most
secure.
Using "Ties", clip-on's etc, will not void the warranty however. Use which
method suits you. I do recommend that the fan "DRAWS" heat "AWAY" from
the heat sink, as opposed to "Blowing on/Over" the heat sink. The purpose of
a heat sink is to draw heat away from the device. Blowing hot air back over
the device is simply wrong folks, but if that is the only way, it is better
than
no cooling at all.
I can't remember where I got this tip sheet but someone here might find it useful.

Thanx for all the info, appreciated http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif . I'll give it a go. BTW i removed all traces of the V3 and its components before i re-installed the drivers for it. Removed every trace from registy aswell.
I have the overclocking tool on my pc but i don't use it, just for show really.
I have an old powerpack fan over the Voodoo to keep it cool so their isn't a prblem their. It never even gets warm anymore.

Thanx again - RobUK
