 My Sony drive (B's Recorder Gold) gives me the following error when trying to burn a copy of an audio CD (I have a cd-rom/dvd (slave) and a Sony CD-RW (master) on IDE-2 using the provided IDE cables):
An ATAPI error occurred <error no: aa040901>
Please check the ATAPI connections:
1. Check the ATAPI cable, master/slave order
2. Insert another disc
3. Restart
Any ideas why this occurs?
What is the proper master/slave order?
How do I fix this problem????
THANK YOU!

Welcome to sysopt!!
Are you running XP??
Are you using "Adaptec EZ CD Creator 5.0??
If you are using these two, you are going to have TROUBLE !!
XP doesn't like Roxio 5.0 at all !!! NO fix that I know of YET!
If your not running XP, remove Adaptec and install NERO. Friend of mine got a SONY and installed Adaptec and couldn't get anything to work. He uninstalled Adaptec and put in NERO and life is GOOD once again.
Try that and see.
GOOD LUCK

ALOHA
Are you recording from one drive to the other~if so you should be on seperate IDE channels.
Could try to build on to HD first then record the Disc.
ALOHA~Merry Christmas

Pete - By jumpers, are you referring to the Slave / Master? If so, yes I am sure they are correct.
Jap03 - Yes I am running XP but am using B's Recorder Gold.
BobViper - I do have them both on the same IDE channel and will try switching today.
I have been able to burn data CD's off of the hard drive and also have burned games from CD-ROM to CD-RW, it just seems to have a problem with music.
