Hello all, this is my 1st post here. Great forum, with tons of good tips, tricks and treats. That said, here's my dilemma. I recently upgraded my PIII450, Win98se machine to XP-pro. I knew that the HCL would probably give me some trouble, as this rig is a bit older, and some of the peripherals were getting a little long in the tooth. I lucked out with my vid card (nvidia TNT2 Ultra) and sound card (Midiman D-manPCI), since XP provided new drivers automatically. The same occurred with my nic card and my ATA100 controller card. Where I stumbled is my CD/RW, which is a fairly primitive Memorex 4224. This drive shipped with the little known (or used) NTI pro software. For my purposes, however, they both worked fine, as most of my burning chores were data-backup.( I have a newer, much more powerful T-Bird DAW for music chores.) Now, unfortunately, the CD software no longer recognizes the drive, and I get a "SCSI drive not installed on machine" error. HUH??? This is an IDE/Atapi drive!!! I ain't got no stinking SCSI !!If I attempt to use the XP native CD burning app - I can burn MP3's , by dragging the files to the CD/RW icon in Explorer. I can't burn data, though. I attempted to troubleshoot this problem, but all I seem to be able to dig up is "ASPI driver is missing". Who, what and most importantly, where do you acquire this driver? I cannoot , for the life of me seem to be able to track it down. Can anyone assist me? Thanks for reading....sturgis 58 http://www.goldenplasma.f2s.com/forum/smilies/scared01.gif
