Folks,
I have a Packard Bell 233mhz computer with 32 mb of ram.I am not sure what the ram frequency is,but i know its not 100mhz.I want to upgrade to 64 mb.I tried the 32mb dimm module (sdram 100)that i received from the clerk at Best Buy and installed it.My computer upon bootup now only shows 40 mb instead of 64.I only got an 8 mb boost. Is that because of the different frequencies? Why is it so hard to find RAM for my computer at local vendors?I tried going online at Memory4less.com and gave my computer model number. It found RAM for my computer but the cost was very high compared to Ram i see advertised in the local papers.
Does anyone know of any more sources to find RAM for my 233?
Thank you,
dale

Some Mobo's (tx chipsets) do not like the combo of the 72 pin and 168 pin mem modules. I have always found when upgrading our companies machines that the system performs better if you remove the 72 pin modules altogether. The machines at our work are however using gigabyte TX and gigabyte TX2 Mobo's. try removing the 72 pin stuff after a benchmark and then running it again, I would be interested in your findings.

Hope i got the point of your message:-))
