In my latest Instalation of Win98 SE on an Athlon XP1700
Shuttle MB
Whenever I insert a removable media (IE CD Zip Drive etc)
I get a Floppy access and then the Error reading Drive A:

Whats up with that?

Anyone seen this before? and if so how do I get rid of it!
Its starting to tick me off :(

I have been trying to figure out when this started happening, but
I have not been able to identify the culprit.

Any help would be appreciated! :D

Clean up Device Manager in Safe Mode. Check your Antivirus program and get it to stop scanning the A:\ drive. If you can't, uninstall and reinstall the AV proggy.

Thanks for the reply BipolarBill

Unfortuneately I do not have Anti Virus Software running or that would have been my first guess. :(

Clean Up Device Manager?
As far as I can tell all devices are working I have no yellow ?
in the device manager

What is AV Proggy anyway?

Thanks!

:D

AV proggy=AntiVirus program

Clean up Device Manager *in Safe Mode*. There, you may find multiple device instances (phantom drivers) where there should only be one. Remove ALL duplicates and erroneous drivers. Windows will install genuine devices on restart.

BTW...press F8 during bootup to get to Safe Mode.
