Hi peoples, having recently had one of our products go over to DVD I received this plea for help and am at a total loss! the message is from one of our engineers and reads as follows:
Sorry to bother you, old chap, but having spoken with Nathan and the guys on X33, I understand that it was you who was responsible for burning the latest issue of HFIS (00-02) on DVD.
In light of this, I wonder if you could help me out with a problem I have encountered with the latest update...
The customer in question has a Dell Optiplex PII-350, running Windows 95 Rev A.
I installed an Adaptec 2940 and an external Pioneer 303 SCSI DVD drive, which (up until now) has been working OK.
Previous issues of HFIS have run OK, and still do! When I insert the latest HFIS DVD into the same DVD drive, however, strange things happen.
Firstly, the volume label of the latest issue appears as GEAR UDF Fi, as opposed to HFIS0002.
Secondly, although the user can view subfolders on the latest HFIS DVD, they cannot see any files in the root directory!
In a vain attept to resolve these problems, the customer has been sent two replacement HFIS discs, and two replacement Pioneer SCSI DVD drives, but all to no avail!
Unfortunately, we cannot swap the SCSI drive for an IDE because the only drive bay in the PC is currently being used to house a CD-Writer.
Do you have any ideas what might be causing the problem with the latest issue?
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!
EOM
The only thing I can think of is that the UDF file system is giving Win95A grief......probly way of the mark though, any thoughts or suggestions would really help this poor lil techie out http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Cheers
