I used it a few days ago to redo computer. Now I put in a disk and computer freezes. The green light stays on no activity just totally freezes, have to shutdown and restart. Could it be a bad floppy or something else? Thanks

Forgot, if no disk is in and you click on :a drive it try"s to access drive. The disk is good tried it in another computer.

This maybe a stupid question. Is your cable on the right way? Traditionally drive cables can be inserted with the red line on the power side. Floppy drives dont necessarily follow this rule. You may also want to re-seat the floppy cable and/or make sure one of the pins is not bent. Try swapping the floppy cable with another.

You did say that when you click on the drive letter that it will try to access the drive. Does your Cmos have the right floppy selected (ie. 720, 1.44, 2.88)?

Good Luck!

Did you check your Device Manager to see if there's a conflict? Might be an IRQ conflict. When I built my sister's computer, a similar problem happened to me. I pulled out all my cards(sound, modem etc) except my video and the floppy worked! Then I reinserted the cards one at a time...rebooted to let windows detect it, repeat process. For some reason, if you put everything in at once and then let Windows find them, something usually screws up. Good luck!

Got it going thanks. Modem and highpoint drivers not working together another problem. Fix that one later.
